A Letter from Josep Dalmau, MD, PhD

Dear Friends,

As a clinician researcher interested in the diagnosis and treatment of paraneoplastic neurologic disorders at Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center, it is my privilege to lead our Center for Paraneoplastic Neurologic Disorders. Here at the Abramson Cancer Center, our mission remains unwavering and focused – to eradicate this complex and devastating disease.

We have made significant progress and exciting discoveries in paraneoplastic neurologic disorders research and continue to strive towards a cure and accurate early detection. Paraneoplastic neurologic disorders are relatively rare and for patients and families this translates into a lack of easily available information and support which can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment.

At our Center for Paraneoplastic Neurologic Disorders, I am proud to say we are responsible for groundbreaking research including: discovery of several paraneoplastic disorders, the development of new tests to diagnose these disorders, identification of the more frequently involved tumors, classification of the disorders to ensure more accurate treatment, and demonstration that coordinated diagnosis and treatment can lead to control or cure of the disease.

This is a critically important time in the research of paraneoplastic neurologic disorders. With your generous and continued support, we can work together to make it possible for these research advances to ensure that we win the fight to better diagnose and treat these disorders. Make an online gift to the Center for Paraneoplastic Neurologic Disorders. or call (215) 898-0578.

Thank You,

Josep Dalmau, MD, PhD
