Breast cancer
patients often experience pain that persists long after surgery, and a
new Danish study has found that the problem affects a large proportion
of women. Almost half the patients reported chronic pain two to three
years after treatment, and more than half reported discomfort.
The patients most likely to have these effects were those under 40,
those who had undergone radiation treatment and those who had surgery
to remove all of the lymph nodes in the armpit rather than a less
