With 12 million cancer survivors across the U.S., some of the breaking news from the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Orlando, FL, concerns the development of survivorship plans. These are designed to help cancer survivors and their doctors be vigilant to the late side effects from cancer drugs they received, early signs of second cancers, and on-going psychological and financial needs. Traditionally, cancer doctors and patients focused on beating the cancer. Now, there is an additional focus on enhancing the quality of long-term survivorship.
