AACR President Raymond N. DuBois, M.D., Ph.D., hosted the Opening Ceremony of the AACR 100th Annual Meeting 2009, which began with a multimedia experience on "100 Years of Science, Synergy, and Success," and led to a celebrity-packed awards ceremony. This included a video appearance by CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric; a live, interactive question and answer session with United States Senator Arlen Specter; a presentation from the Stand Up To Cancer Executive Leadership Council; and a roster of luminaries from the scientific cancer community.
A highlight of the Opening Ceremony included a multimedia experience on
"100 Years of Science, Synergy and Success," a video premier of the
advancements in cancer research, and the historical developments of the
AACR and its role as the nucleus of scientific exchange in the cancer
arena.
