Abramson Cancer Center's Daniel H. Sterman, MD, featured in London Sunday Times for his mesothelioma treatment research

Daniel H. Sterman, MD
, director, Interventional Pulmonary, associate professor of Medicine and member of the Abramson Cancer Center, is featured in the London Sunday Times for his research in treating mesothelioma, the form of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The article is written by Dr. Andrew Lawson, a pain medicine consultant at he Royal Berkshire Hospital and honorary senior lecturer in medical ethics at IMperial College in London who has been living with mesothelioma for 17 months. Dr. Lawson writes about his experience in coming to Philadelphia to take part in Dr. Sterman's research using genetically modified viruses to cause the body to attack malignant cells. Already living five months past the median survival time of 12 citizens for only the cost of travel arrangements, yet the National Health Service of the United Kingdom won't pay.
