Decision-making Input Linked to more Satisfied Cancer Patients

April 24, 2014

In continuing coverage, Reuters Health reports on a study published in Cancer from radiation oncologists in the Abramson Cancer Center linking shared decision making to patient satisfaction. Patients who played an active role in their radiation treatment decisions felt more satisfied with their care, the study found. "Now more than ever, we are really paying attention to the role of the patient in his or her own health care, and we are trying to make this more of a partnership," said Neha Vapiwala, MD, associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Hematology Times also covered the study, and the Reuters Health story was picked up Yahoo! News and MedCity News.
