Delaware's Melanoma Rate is Growing Faster than the U.S. Rate Overall

A cover story in the health section of Delaware's News Journal discussed the growing melanoma rates in the state, which has the fifth highest in the US.Katherine Nathanson, MD, associate professor in the division of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics, offered up comments about the damage from exposure to the sun and tanning devices that slowly but surely causes genetic damage. “Every one of our cells is repairing thousands of genetic changes a day...UV damage is making them go into overtime,” Nathanson said.
