Research led by Robert Vonderheide, MD, DPhil, an associate professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, published recently in Science, was highlighted by the NCI Cancer Bulletin. Results from the early-stage clinical trial "may lead to new treatment options for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer," the article notes. The immune-based treatment appears to work differently than the trial investigators had expected, attacking tumors primarily by altering their surrounding tissue. Read More
