CDC: 1 in 20 Americans Is A Cancer Survivor

Linda Jacobs, PhD, RN, director of the Abramson Cancer Center's LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence, is quoted in an story about a new CDC report showing that 1 in 20 Americans - 12 million people -- is a cancer survivor. One area where survivors are a growing legion is among those with childhood cancers: Today, 75 percent to 80 percent of children with any form of cancer can expect to survive. "The majority are now surviving, whereas a decade or so ago they didn't," Jacobs said. "That can be said for many cancers at any age, depending on the type." Read More
