Kathryn Schmitz, PhD, MPH, an associate professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, is quoted in stories on ABCNews.com and MedPage Today about a study that will be presented in early June at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting showing that yoga can help cancer patients combat fatigue and nausea during treatment. "This is groundbreaking," Schmitz says, particularly because this type of intervention can be applied in community settings based on oncologists' recommendations, rather than just in hospitals or academic centers. "Cancer patients trust their oncologists," she says. "If they're going to be physically active, they need to know what they're going to do is okay with their oncologists, even after treatment."
