Stand Up to Cancer

Craig Thompson, MD, director of the Abramson Cancer Center, was quoted in stories on the CBS Early Show, the TODAY Show on NBC, and ABC's Good Morning America, about plans for a second Stand Up 2 Cancer concert on September 10th to raise more money for the groundbreaking partnership between the entertainment industry and the scientific community to find new treatments and cures for cancer. Thompson co-leads the Stand Up 2 Cancer "Dream Team" that was awarded $18 million to find novel ways to treat pancreatic cancer by cutting off the tumors' fuel supply. "We've delivered on the promise of a new blood test for cancer, in a way that is going to actually be informative not only for pancreatic cancer, but other cancers like leukemia and brain cancer -- and that is exciting," Thompson says. "By working together, new positive things happen that are really exciting and driving us forward as a team."
