Abramson Cancer Center Receives 2010 MANNA Nourish Award

January 13, 2010

Earlier this year, the Board of Directors of MANNA established The Nourish Awards, to recognize an outstanding individual, a corporation or foundation, and an institution for a passionate commitment to health and wellness. Award recipients do not necessarily have a direct relationship to MANNA, but share our mission to improve health through the nourishment of the mind, the body and the spirit.

In this inaugural year of The Nourish Awards, the Board of Directors has chosen three outstanding awardees.

With great pleasure, the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania has been selected. This decision recognizes the immense impact the Abramson Cancer Center has had in the treatment and care of people threatened with cancer. In addition, Abramson Cancer Center partnered with MANNA when it expanded its nutrition service mission beyond HIV/AIDS/ to include other life-threatening illnesses.

Our board strongly believes that the Abramson Cancer Center is the perfect institution to honor for its passionate commitment to the same core values and quality of service as MANNA.

The Nourish Awards 2010 will be held on Wednesday evening, May 12, 2010 at The Marketplace Design Center. Well over 400 attendees are expected. Additionally, the Governor of Pennsylvania has personally invited the First Lady of the United States, Michele Obama, to attend this event and help present the awards.

In addition to the Abramson Cancer Center, the other honorees are MAC Cosmetics and MAC AIDS Fund, as well as R. Duane Perry, Founder, The Food Trust.
