Penn Med Doc Helps Us Re-think Happiness and De-Stress in New PBS Series

January 11, 2010

PBS premiered a new three-part series this week called "This Emotional Life" which opens a window into real lives, exploring ways to improve our social relationships, cope with emotional issues, and become more positive, resilient individuals. Michael Baime, MD, director of the Penn Program for Mindfulness and the Mind Body Programs of the Abramson Cancer Center, is prominently featured in episode three of the program called "Rethinking Happiness." In addition to being interviewed, Dr. Baime was also featured leading a class of cancer patients and survivors learning mindful meditation. According to Dr. Baime, there are simple ways we all can learn to undo the stress and experience depth and meaning in our lives -- which ultimately is what buffers us from stress.
