The Abramson Cancer Center offers subspecialty cancer care not usually available at most community hospitals, as well as the vast research and technological resources of one of the nation's foremost cancer centers.
Our specialists, are nationally recognized for their expertise in specific cancers in the following sub-specialties: hematology-oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastrointestinal medicine, gynecologic-oncology, cancer genetics, otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery, pulmonary medicine, neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, pain and symptom management, pathology, physiatry, plastic surgery, thoracic surgery , interventional radiology, radiology and urology.
Our Comprehensive Cancer Programs give patients access to the full range of Cancer Center expertise, for their type of cancer. If your patient needs to come to Penn Medicine, our specialists will remain in close contact with you.
We currently have two Physician Liaisons for Penn Medicine cancer and surgical services. Their goals are to build new relationships and support existing faculty relationships with the referring physician community.
An important distinction of Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center is our interdisciplinary focus. This approach benefits patients, since it is the collective contribution of physicians from different specialties that ensures the best possible care throughout the experience.
Penn oncologists are leaders in designing and conducting clinical trials. Along with clinical trials designed and offered only at the Abramson Cancer Center, we participate in many national studies.
Designed specifically for the practicing physician, Penn Physician VideoLink offers videos that highlight innovations in research and clinical practice at Penn Medicine. Featured topics engage viewers in the intricacies of surgery, clinical investigation and medical care, and examine the techniques used and the decisions made to care for patients at every stage of health and disease. As of 2015, the VideoLink offers approximately 10 hours of cancer-oriented video content.
The Abramson Cancer Center's Patient and Family Services Program offers a full range of support services that complement the medical care provided. Services for patients being seen at the Abramson Cancer Center include: psychosocial counseling, nutritional counseling, cancer rehabilitation, patient navigation and support. Our goal is to relieve some of the stress of a cancer diagnosis by providing information, understanding and support.
