"When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I could have gone anywhere. Because I wanted the best doctors possible, I chose the Abramson Cancer Center. Today, I stand before you cancer-free... and happy.
I wouldn't be here today if generous donors hadn't given to the Abramson Cancer Center. Looking toward the future, we won't be able to sustain their level of treatment, development, and research without substantial ongoing philanthropy. It is important to me as a survivor to make sure that others get the kind of care that I did, which is why I continue to give them my support, and thank everyone else who has ever given and will give to Penn Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center from the bottom of my heart."
Ellen Lee wanted to make sure others who faced breast cancer would receive the same outstanding, compassionate, cancer care that she did at the Abramson Cancer Center. Together with her husband Jerry, Ellen made a generous gift to establish the Ellen Lee Patient and Family Waiting Area at the Rena Rowan Breast Center, to be located in the new Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. This area provides a quiet, comforting environment for breast cancer patients and their families during treatments.
