Dr. Langlotz is responsible for the strategic and technical direction of a filmless, paperless radiology department that interprets over 500,000 exams annually at 3 busy hospitals and a large community practice. His informatics research program, funded in part by the NCI?s Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) project and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, focuses on the development and evaluation of standard medical vocabularies, image reporting systems, and decision support tools to enhance the quality of radiology practice. As founding chair of the RadLex Steering Committee of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), he leds a collaborative effort to create a unified radiology lexicon. He now chairs the RSNA Reporting Committee, a collaborative effort to create best-practice templates for radiology reports, based on standard terminology. Dr. Langlotz has published over 90 scientific publications in the fields of imaging informatics and health services research. He serves on the Editorial Boards of Computers in Biomedical Informatics and the Journal of Digital Imaging, and as an Editorial Consultant for Academic Radiology. Dr. Langlotz also serves as President of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) and as a member of the RSNA Radiology Informatics Committee. He is a founder and Past President of the Radiology Alliance for Health Services Research (RAHSR) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of University Radiologists (AUR).
