Xiaolu's research program has led to important advances in our understanding of caspases and their regulatory proteins, the role of p53 family members in regulating cellular metabolism and cell death, and the molecular function of promyelocytic leukemia protein nuclear bodies. In doing so, he has distinguished himself for the depth, as well as the breadth, of his research.
