Jessica Long, MS, is a Certified Genetic Counselor specializing in Cancer Genetics. She provides risk assessment and counseling to individuals and families that have been affected by cancer, including discussion of the ways in which genetic testing may influence medical management and impact a family. After completing her Master’s Degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling at the University of Michigan, Jessica spent several years as a genetic counselor in the University of Michigan Cancer Genetics Clinic. Her expertise encompasses a variety of hereditary cancer conditions, including hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, hereditary gastrointestinal syndromes (such as Lynch syndrome and familial polyposis), Li-Fraumeni syndrome and less common tumor predisposition syndromes (such as Cowden syndrome, von Hippel-Lindau syndrome and Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome). Jessica enjoys working with individuals to help them understand and manage the source of hereditary cancer risk in a family with an emphasis on prevention. Her research interests include alternative service delivery methods for genetic counseling and the psychosocial impact of genetic counseling and testing services.
