For those diagnosed with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer, our (GICEC) offers a thorough evaluation during a single visit.
Medical and radiation oncologists work closely together to provide the best treatment options available. Our patient support specialist helps coordinate care and guides the patient through the next steps.
At the end of the visit, a team member meets and talk with each patient and treatment options are presented.
Treatment options that include chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery are emphasized.
This approach has been successful in decreasing the incidence of local recurrence in most GI tumors and increasing the cure rate for tumors of the colon, rectum and pancreas.
Other specialists from surgery, gastroenterology, radiology, pathology and nutrition will be consulted, as needed.
Each patient’s treatment plan is reviewed by the team at a Case Conference. This ensures that patients receive the most advanced treatments available and that care is coordinated among your team.
