17th Annual Life After Breast Cancer Conference
September 11, 2009
Hilton Hotel, 4200 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA
Conference Chair: Angela DeMichele, MD
The Abramson Cancer Center was pleased to present the 17th Life After Breast Cancer Conference. This conference was one of the first in the country to address the issues and concerns of breast cancer survivors and their families.
With knowledge gained from mapping the human genome, we can now target the genes and pathways that are involved in turning normal cells into cancer cells. We are on the brink of possessing a toolbox full of advanced technologies waiting to be adapted to benefit patients, while we continue to pioneer new treatments such as targeted therapies (immunotherapy, biologic therapy) and proton radiation treatment.
Whether at risk for breast cancer, newly diagnosed or long term survivor, attendees received up-to-the-minute information including; the latest laboratory research, treatment advances, clinical trials, and survivorship issues.
