On November 6, 2009 for the fifth year, the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Greater Delaware Valley Division had a day-long conference. The conference was designed to address the personal and medical issues facing adults, and children with blood cancers and their caregivers. This year as we near our 3000th transplant procedure, we also recognized our patients and families who have undergone bone marrow or stem cell transplant. This program is also applicable to professionals caring for this population, and provided contact hours for nurses and social workers.

Through a series of presentations, personalized one-to-one sessions and the opportunity to network and gain support from other survivors, the conference serves to educate patients and their families about the medical, psychosocial and survivorship issues they may face. This conference was designed for people who are survivors of blood cancer or who have undergone bone marrow or stem cell transplant (BMSCT), their families, friends and caregivers.
