Constipation can result from cancer treatments, medications or from lack of fiber, fluids and movement. Patients should check with a doctor or nurse before using over-the-counter laxatives, stool softeners or enemas.

Oncology certified registered nurses and registered dietitians are available to help with symptom management at the Abramson Cancer Center and the Abramson Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital.
